Who I Am
Founder & Art Director
Life-long learner, explorer, foodie, gardening enthusiast, kitty mom
Hi, I’m Rachel. Welcome to Rtistry By Design!
I have been a professional graphic designer for 10 years. Prior to design, my unique journey spanned multiple roles in four countries, three cities, and two states – including professional ballet, childcare, office management, business travel, copywriting, event production, business consulting, and national and international public relations. This diversified background allows me to bring to the table a broad range of experience and industry understanding to better serve client needs.
As a designer, I have had the opportunity to work with businesses of all sizes, start-ups, agencies, higher education institutions, and non-profits for projects in branding, print design, multi-media, advertising, digital design, presentation design, marketing, creative strategy, live event production,
e-learning, video, photography, art direction, and out-of-home. Most recently, I served as Marketing Director of Davis College in Johnson City, New York, before launching Rtistry.
I LOVE design, because I help bring people’s visions to life. Whether working with a new business to develop their identity, breathing fresh life into an existing brand, or tackling a complex design challenge – I am passionate about using my skills to help others launch their dreams and reach their goals.
A proud member of AIGA since 2010, I recently had the honor of participating in the Slack-based creation of our own original typeface, Excelsiorama, which was featured by HOW Magazine! Locally, I serve on the board of AIGA Upstate NY as director of the Binghamton Programming Committee. I am a proud member of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, the Entrepreneurs Alliance and the Broome County Arts Council, a past board member of BCCOAD, and an active participant in the renaissance of my city.
When not at the computer, I can usually be found playing in my garden or my kitchen, savoring the beauty of the outdoors, and spending time with friends.
Now you know my story…how can I help you tell yours?
Ask me WHY
From its inception, Rtistry has existed for the benefit of my kids. In August of 2015, that dream took on new faces – at an orphanage in the bush of Malawi, Africa. Those precious kids became part of my heart, and ten percent of every Rtistry project is donated to support that orphanage. Theirs are the faces I see in the midst of every challenge I face and every decision I make. It is now my dream that this business will one day be able to fully fund an orphanage somewhere in the world. Referencing Simon Sinek, they are my “Why”.
